Sonic After the Sequel (abbreviated Sonic ATS), is a fan game created by LakeFeperd that is meant to explain the events that may have taken place between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Fun fact though, if you get Speed Shoes then transform into Super Sonic the music pitches up and speeds up twice. Sonic Before the Sequel is a 2D platform game, starring Sonic, that continues with an alternative time line to that established in the original SEGA game right up to the present day. This set up leads to both Sonic and Tails playable and if you looked at my Sonic 3&K and Sonic CD threads, you will have a … Super Sonic. Before and After the Sequel take place before and after Sonic 2 and explore the build up to the Death Egg construction that we see happen in Sonic 3 & K. If the rest of the bosses are like this, it kind of sours the overall experience IMO.Blindfolded Mecha Sonic. Not to mention you can't hit the sides with the balls directly (or can't touch them for that matter), it has to bounce off of the bumper. It feels luck based and combined with Sonic's slow ground acceleration (mid air acceleration is a lot faster and can throw you off when jumping) it makes this boss on ordeal. Basically you have to ricochet the balls Eggman throws at you into the bumper and from the bumper to the sides of the boss. The Sugar Splash boss (which in previous versions Sugar Splash didn't have a boss fight), feels poorly designed. They're hard and for all the wrong reasons. I know for a fact the bosses in Sonic ATS where too easy but this feels like the other extreme. Second complaint, the boss fights (or at least the 2nd one near the end of the video). Maybe Sonic Mania's controls spoiled me, but play this and Mania back to back and you'll feel the difference. While it doesn't seem like that from the footage shown here, trust me it is. Sonic here feels heavier than in previous versions for starters (not to mention a bit unresponsive). Incoming rant below, so take my words with a grain of salt. It feels like an improvement across the board. Widescreen support, remade cutscenes as well as incorporating music that was missing in the DX version. Does this version improve upon the original Sonic ATS? Well, for the most part, yes. While I enjoyed Sonic After The Sequel DX, it was kind of buggy.
